Technical and Trade Schools
Many community colleges offer degrees and certificates in trades and technical programs, but some professions usually have separate schools or programs that focus exclusively on teaching the skills necessary to work in that field.
Depending on the job they prepare you for, these programs can take less than a year, while others will require both formal education and working in the field with an experienced professional. This part of the training is sometimes called an apprenticeship.
