East Grand Rapids High School will perform Seussical on April 30 - May 2, 2026.

A musical perfect for the whole family, Seussical takes us into the world of Dr. Seuss, where we revisit beloved characters, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and JoJo! Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza!

The Cat in the Hat guides us into The Jungle of Nool where we meet Horton, a kind-hearted elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing Whoville. Along the way, he also meets JoJo, a Who child scolded for having too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.

Seussical weaves together a story of friendship, loyalty, and love. Despite the odds, Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to the Jungle of Nool! The charming story of Seussical teaches us the power of being unique and the importance of standing up for what's right.

Performances will be in the EGRHS Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. on April 30 - May 2. There is also a 2:00 p.m. performance on May 2. The performance will be approximately 75 minutes long.

Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. Premium seating for $12 (students) and $16 (adults) is also available. All EGRHS and EGRMS students can receive ONE FREE TICKET to any performance (with student ID), courtesy of the EGR Stage Boosters! Doors open 30 minutes prior to the scheduled curtain time. For more information and tickets, visit egrps.org/theatre.
