On Tuesday, March 10, our superintendent, Dr. Heidi Kattula, was recognized by the YWCA of West Central Michigan as one of the honorees for the In Her Honor luncheon!

In Her Honor is a celebration of women who uplift, inspire, and lead with purpose. Hosted by the YWCA, this celebration recognizes the transformative power of women's leadership. Dr. Kattula was nominated for her tireless work in public education, her advocacy efforts for students, and her statewide leadership.

STEAM Night Graphics on Blue, Purple Background

Check out what students are working on in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics during the district’s first-ever Community STEAM Night, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at East Grand Rapids High School, 2211 Lake Drive SE.

The event will resemble a science fair, but with more of an emphasis on showcasing than on competition, said EGRHS chemistry teacher Tom Fox, who is helping plan and organize the evening.

Have you been thinking about registering your three-year-old for preschool? 

Our preschool still has half-day three-year-old preschool spots available for the 2026-2027 school year!

Visit egrps.org/preschool for more information and to register. WECC is a tuition-based center, meaning there are no residency restrictions to attend. Contact Courtney Van Heck, Director of Early Childhood, at cvanheck@egrps.org with any questions.

East Grand Rapids High School celebrates the life lessons of kindness, inclusivity, and friendship representing the legacy of Jimmy Gerken through Kabookie Week, held each February. Kabookie Week includes school spirit days, an assembly, and a school dance, to commemorate Jimmy and promote togetherness.
